2000 RM250 power valve setting help

Recommended Posts

I'm working on a friends RM250, but cannot find the specs for setting the power valve anywhere. Riding the bike, it feels like the power cames in late and soft.

I found it to be set at 2 full turns of preload, can anyone tell me what the factory spec is?

Thanks in advance

The manual for my 2000 rm250 calls for 0 pre-load, there is an index mark on the adjuster at that point. However, it seems that the adjuster doesn't contact the spring if set at the index mark on my bike, less than 0 pre-load. I'm not a big fan of "slack" or "slop" for a spring/pressure balance type of system like this, so mine is set by "feeling" the adjuster contact the spring.(slightly past index)

Yes, I'm making a simple thing complicated! Thats just the way I like to do things.

Right on thank you. The bike seems to run better now, I set it the same way you have yours... made sense to me

Correction-- while putting my top-end together, re-checked the factory book.

D'oh:excuseme: the reccomended pre-load is 1 turn past zero. Sorry for the mis-information.👍
