cr500 mainjets and crf450 mainjets.....

Recommended Posts

Yep... The FCRs, PJ carbs and PWK carbs (which many switch to, from the PJ) all use the same family of Keihin Mains. Here's a catalog link, but it is like 30Meg, so only download if you have high-speed internet! Go to page 73:

http://www.sudco.com/vol34/sudco34cat.pdf

Here's the info from the cat:

Applications: CR Special, all FCR’s, FCR-MX, PE, PJ, PWK, PWM.

I answered your PM. Be careful as the idle speed shouldnt' have shot through the moon because of an aftermarket pipe/silencer install. Go through the search for air leaks (and/or fuel deprivation) before making jetting changes, especially if he has dones any other repairs/removals, like carb boots, reed block and its boot, reed block sealing area, dirty carb (jets, float needle/seat, etc), left-side crank seal, etc. Pipe/silencer change won't effect idle speed so drastically, like you have stated. I suspect some other issue and the coincidence is just fogging the mind. Did they guy just perform anything at all on the bike aside from the pipe change?

Stock carb is a PJ 38mm, yes.

Got your next PM. Be careful as a slow bowl gasket leak will NOT cause a higher idle rpm!!! It's just a slow fuel leak and the float height will, or should, remain the same. You're missing something, IMO!!!
