CR125 starting issues

I have a 2002 CR125 and when I try to start it will start for a second then die. It does this maybe 10 times before it actually starts. Anything I could do to change this?

im guesing its a carb problem? maybe float bowl height?

do you choke it?

i would pull off the carb and inspect and clean.

what does you plug read?

i would kick it one day 8 times just befopre it starts and pull out the plug and read it then, and then read it after running it 20 min.

I have tried choke, no choke, giving it throttle, no throttle, priming it. It seems to work best when I prime it with three kicks holding the kill switch, no choke, but it still takes a while. Once I get it started it is fine.

Sounds like your choke circuit may not even be working right.

Have you tried just turning the airscrew clockwise 1/4 turn at a time and then trying to start?

which one is the airscrew, i don't have my bike with me

The small brass screw to the right of the idle screw.

Sounds like you might be losing compression also. Try pressure testing it just in case also
