Base Valve Questions

Recommended Posts

I'm planning on removing some of the face shims off the fork base valves. The bike is an 07 yzf250. Can the shims be just removed or do they have to go somewhere else to keep the spacing the same? What torque setting should be used for the base bolt? Loctite? Thanks

Just remove the shims as the backing plate on the KYB is small. Do not "reverse stack" like the Showa`s.

Base bolt. I just use surface insensitive loctite after cleaning with brake parts cleaner (quick shot on the threads and nut)and snug them down by hand.

Torque wrench may get you in to trouble here unless it is of high quality.

I have torque wrenches from "NASA" made of stainless steel which are guaranteed accurate but I still torque base bolt nuts by hand:excuseme:
