XR 100 Transmission problems

Recommended Posts

I have a 1997 xr 100 and it was a basket case build....I got all the peices and started to put it back together and i only have the top end gasket set so i used high temp silacone for the center, right and left case gaskets..the transmission will shift fine when i have the clutch cover off with all the case bolts out, but when i tightin all the case bolts it wont shift....got the part break down for the motor and all the shims and washers are in place....so the question that i have is if i put the center and clutch case gaskets on it would give me more clearance for the trans to shift when i tightin every thing up????

Any ideas anybody

You need the center gasket. It's pinching the trans. There isn't much clearance, so things don't move around.

BTW, with the small oil passages and issues with trashing the head, I'd scour every trace of silicone from the engine and redo it with the right gaskets.
