Engine side clutch release lever screw removal

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to replace the seal on my clutch release lever (engine side).

I'm having a difficult time :) getting the phillips screw out which holds the seal retainer plate. It's very hard to access and my screw is starting to get chewed. (I've been following the instructions in the Clymer manual - removed starter to access this screw.)

Any one know what to use to remove this?

Thanks!

Try to find some JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard ) bits to fit the impact driver. I think it makes a difference. Others simply flatten the tip of a standard bit a little for a better fit. Oftentimes, when a bit cams out of the screw head it's because the tip bottoms out before the sides get a good grip.

Is there a thread/post on here describing the replacement of the seal.

What parts needed other than the seal etc.

Does the Clymer manual list part #s ...maybe I should invest in one

I just did the cs fix / seal replacement thanks to the post here.👍

I thought I must have done something wrong when I noticed oil leak still.

Discovered it is coming from the clutch arm. (just above the front spocket):worthy:

Looks like I have to take the starter off to get to that screw WarrenW is talking about.
