200 vs 650 Exactly what does it get me

Recommended Posts

I'm not a moto racer or jumper and I'm trying to justify the extra weight and lower fuel milage on a 200 vs 650.

What is 'good enough'? Sure a 50cc will get you around but where and how do you draw the line for being underpowered? Is it hill climbing abality, going through sand, popping the front wheel for an obstical?

If that is the case please tell me why I should get a 650 vs a 200 or 250 for intermediate trail rides.

jesus. why don't you just go to the next step and compare tank to a lotus elise?

what do you want do with it? do you desert ride? dual sport? single track?

what 200? a KDX or a KTM??

what 650? the Honda 650r? 650L? the Suzuki? the Kawasaki?

how tall are you. what do you weigh.

Exactly my thought X. Tank vs Lotus. To answer your questions, here I go.

Ride: forest roads, desert, rocks and hill climbs. TW200, CRF250X flavor. Big thumper: XR600 or XR650. Height 5'9", weight 160.

Not racing but not sure if you need to be street legal on forest roads... probably not.

I may be asking the wrong question. I should probably ask "what would be the optimum size of a bike for my size and weight for dirt fun at an advanced-intermediate level?".
