CRF250X vs KX125 power/top speed wise?

Recommended Posts

top speed can be changed by gearing really easy more peak horse power I would give to the 125 more manageable power would be the 4 strokerrr:ride:

the KX smashed the CRF/X in outright power, the CRF has taller gearing, if you gear the KX up, it will be faster.

CRF250X will be much faster. 6-speeds, taller final drive, more HP.

The 250x is a 5-er, not a six speed.

IMHO the 250x has an advantage over the 125 in every aspect but weight, power (unless its uncorked/piped) and maintenence. However the 125 would make you a better rider.

actually outright power un corked the KX beats the CRF by around 3 HP, doesn sound like much, but that's still around 10 percent..

Yes it would be noticible, problem is when you really tune a 125 like that they get extremely snappy narrow powerbands. The 250X will always have a wider powerband but theres more potential in the 125.

I have a WR125 and have ridden a stock 250x. On the trail it felt like the X had more power because it is hard to be screaming the bike all the time. On the gravel road the X felt slow because it is easy to wind a bike out. So unless you are a really good rider, or not riding tight woods, the X will have more useable power. I still much prefer the weight and fun factor of a 125 though.
