lubeing cables?

on my previous trail bike i never lubed the cables but they never realy needed it.....now with the 250 the cables are starting to get kinda sticky...what can i use to lube them? i heard you can use chain lube.....i dont really want to go get some specialty lube...my dad had some chin lube that said it could be used for andy moving parts, cables chains....ect. but it ran out, lol. so, any ideas?

Either a white lithium grease spray or a silicone oil based spray will work. Chain lube is too sticky. Also on the throttle cables you probably can't use the cable luber as they ends are not crimped on and the spray will just blow out past. If this is the case you'll need to do it the old fashioned way and use a silicone based oil and a plastic baggie. Cut the corner off the baggie and slide it over the cable securing it with a rubber band. Then put some oil in the bag and manually work the cable in and out (you'll need to disconnect both ends) until oil flows out the bottom of the cable.
