Revitalizing Carb Gasket

Recommended Posts

Hi, I've got an '06 DRZ-S. It still has the stock Mikuni Carb.

I pulled the carb off to clean it (using the posts on the forum) and reinstalled it. the bike runs better than it did when I bought it.

But I have what looks like a drip coming from on carb, I'll check tonight, but I think it's related to the large o ring gasket that seals the bowl on the carb. I don't think it's related to the float system, there's no fuel coming out of the vent tube.

This carb has been off before (the mods show that the previous owner was a TT subscriber also). So I'm reluctant to crank down on the screws to try to make it seal.

I can wait another day to go to suzuki for a replacement gasket, but I wanted to see if anyone has been able to revitalize that rubber o ring carb gasket. Silicon spray, vinyl protectant?

thanks for any help.

GP.

Sounds like it could be just pinched in the bowl if your lucky. If not crank away and hope that it stops. Then order a new gasket.
