Hard starting

Recommended Posts

I have a 04 250f low hours, have jetted the bike for my area. It ran great last winter and the first part of this summer. It changed very fast one day at the local track and didn't want to start. Checked the valves, perefect. Cleaned carb, still no difference. Went to Coos bay last weekend, had to bump start after hot. Ran fast and hard all weekend. Kick starter seems different, maybe low comp. How does the auto decompression work? Any ideas would be appreciated.

centrifical force causes the auto decomp to disengage, there is a little weight and spring on the front of the exhaust cam.

check your fuel screw at the bottom of the carb, make sure it didnt fall out

The air/fuel screww is there, have one of those remote knob ones. What should the compression reading be on a motor like mine? Wish I had done a check when I got the bike so I would have a base line. Has anybody had problems with the auto decompression? Thanks
