06' TE450 cam chain adjustment. How to?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Over the past two rides I have been hearing a metal on metal rattling type sound coming from the engine under load. The bike is only 3000K's old. Sounds like chain slap but its definatly coming from the engine. The sound comes and goes which has me thinking its the cam chain getting loose and needing adjustment. Can some one point me in the direction of a "how to" step by step adjustment and check of the cam chain tension.

cheers!👍

I can't speak for Aus but the Husky USA website has manuals online for downloading.

Anyways the camchain tensioner is automatic-It is spring loaded.

You can check w/your dealer but if you remove the bolt in the center of the adjuster the spring will come out and tension is released. Don't let the spring fly out when you remove the bolt!

Then remove the two bolts holding the tensioner assembly and remove the assembly.Count how many teeth the camchain arm has showing-it's a ratchet assembly.if you're down to the last couple compared to the arm fully extended, you need a new chain.

Good luck!
