Best Battery ???

Recommended Posts

My battery apparently died today at the gas station after a 70 mile ride. My '07 400s wouldn't start. The starter kept getting slower & slower, until it finally just clicked...

Luckily I was able to roll it off after my 2nd attempt.

I used 1st gear to catch it, instead of 2nd... LEVEL GROUND

I ride EVERY week, year 'round, and my battery only lasted 1 yr. 5mo.?

Is this normal? My rides are usually at least 50 mi. every time...

What is the absolute BEST battery to replace my OEM with?

Thanks!

(Yes, I've done a search on this, and also read previous posts for the past 1½ hrs. w/o finding a true answer...)

I ride EVERY week, year round... Do I still need to connect the battery tender?

I have one, but have never opened the package...

I didn't think I needed to use it if I rode at least once every week. (50+ miles)

Yes..the stock drz battery is so small that the tender is a must when the bikes not running. Its easy enough to connect if you hardwire the supplied connector and wedge it inbetween the seat and side panel for easy access.

Battery life is real dependant on how the battery is first put into service. Was your bike sitting on the showroom floor? Chances are it was and the battery was not maintained. This severly reduces its' life. Some service dpets. simply fill the battery, put a quick charge (10 amps for 30 minutes) on it and roll it on to the floor instead of following the correct procedure (fill, wait 1 hour, slow charge at .75 amps for twelve hours). My first battery lasted barely a year.

Is that a genuine Yuasa brand or some knock off using there model number?? Price seems lil low for a Yuasa.

Maybe I'll wait & get a true Yuasa then...

I'm gonna try & revive my OE battery tomorrow with my battery tender.

Any hopes? The display never went out, only the bike wouldn't start...

Eddie, if you're still selling the whole kit & kabutal, what is the cost?

its not.

if you are going to buy a cheapy buy it local so its easy to warranty/

I 2nd that. I bought a cheapy and it went dead in less than a month, even though I followed the proper initial charge procedure and kept it on a battery tender when not in use. Dealer swapped it out with no hassle but it was an inconvenience. Needless to say I have a Super Start Kit on the way!
