99 klx 300 counter sprocket C-Clip

help please -

i recently changed the cs 14t to 15t so i can commute on my ca. street legal 99 klx300. couple rides to work later i notice oil flowing out the bottom left side near the cs. i removed the cover and it appears that the c-clip is missing. is this why i have an oily mess? i wrapped some bailing wire around the shaft where the c-clip was and went for a quick ride around the block. it appears to be ok? does this sound right?

oh and the oil leak seemed to appear right after i changed the needle clip position #2 to #1 on my mikuni t36 carb. any coorolation? - stupid question probaby, but i dont know whats happening and i sarted having problems right after i did this. just coincedence?

I'd replace the clip before riding it. Your lucky nothing came apart. The extra axial play could've caused the leak but the sprocket floats a little even with the clip in place.
