Possible to lower a KLX 300

Recommended Posts

Daughter's boyfriend bought a used 07 KLX300 and he's 5'4". Possible to lower the bike as I thought I read about it?

Tks,

Brian

Look at the suspension linkage. You replace the "dog bones" with longer ones.

Or back off the adjuster on the shock for more sag.

On the front you can slide the fork tubes up in the clamps.

A suspension shop can lower it up to 2" for you. it is only spacers and can be removed before resale. that along with seat foam trimming could get it pretty low. at least a KLX has a decent amount of foam compared to some new bikes these days.

Many thanks for info. Lot of good stuff. I already lowered his forks, changed out the oil with lighter oil and adjusted his front fork compression. I also have a KLX300 with a 7.2 spring that I'm going to swap out for his 10+. I weigh a light 230 and the guy who owned his bike was a very light 230 so it's a win/win for us both.

Tks for help.

Rgds,

Brian

While you're working on the shock, back out the rebound adjuster all of the way. From the factory, the internal valving is too slow and the lighter spring will exagerate that even more.
