2006 400E jetting questions - please advise

Recommended Posts

Was hoping for a resident expert to confirm the mods I want to do.

Bike/Mods/Env: Stock 2006 400E with FCR (non-MX) carb. I do plan to remove the snorkel for the 3x3. Most riding is between 1000 - 2500' during 60 - 90 F.

I've spent a few hours searching this on here and it looks like I should start at:

155 main jet (up from 142 stock)

5 clip on stock DXP needle (down from 4 stock)

45 pilot jet (stock)

2.5 turns fuel screw (out from 1.5 stock) - will be changing to keintech extended fuel screw, too

I will also check AP squirt duration and do Taffy mod, if over 1.5 secs.

Finally, any reason why I shouldn't remove the coast enrichener and change the pilot air jet to 100 while I'm at it?

Thanks for your help.

All sounds good to me. Don't worry too much about the Taffy mod unless you get a rich bog. Accelerate, close throttle, get back on it again. If that is when you feel a bog, try the Taffy mod.

I have an '03 E with a White Brothers R4 slip on. I pulled the snorkel and jetted the following (also based on many hours of research here!) :

165 Main

48 Pilot

5th clip (stock DXP)

2.5 turns

And it runs fine for me at <1,000 feet 100 deg F 👍 I bet you will be fine with your settings to start.
