training for mx racing

hey i don't have much spare cash at the moment for a gym membership so was wondering if someone could help my set up a training schedule for me.

i was thinking a mon-thurs training schedule 2 days of cardio and 2 of weight training or whatever?

would i be best going for a run or riding my mountain bike up the mountain? what are some good exercises i can do at home to help tone up my upper body a bit?

any help, links or whatever will be much appreciated.

also, weigh 75kg (165pounds) and am roughly 6ft

I've been doing a bit of reading on home exercise for upper body, it seems that old fashioned pull-ups, chin-ups (ie reverse grip from pull-ups) and push-ups do a lot of good. They're complex, meaning multiple muscles are being worked at the same time. Plus wide-grip pull-ups work the lats as well.
