Yz 426 on Xr 400

Recommended Posts

I have the chace to acquire a complete front from a YZ 426, Wheel, complete brake from the perch to the caliper, axel shocks etc . The Shocks have been re-worked by Dick's suspension for my size and riding style which is the reason this sounds like a good idea. I know I will probably have to change the triple clamps and steering stem. Is there anything I may be overlooking. Any input would be appreciated.

If I understand, you want to put the YZ forks on the XR. Why not?

I'd think you have to keep the YZ triples. You might get lucky and find that even the YZ stem is the right diameter to fit the XR frame's bearings. Wihin reason you can switch and swap inner/outer races to get a bearing combination that will let the YZ stem work in the XR frame. Leg length and stem length may be a problem but you won't know until you measure.

In the past I've put '95 KX forks on an '02 KDX and '89 CR125 forks on a '87 XR200.
