XR 100 Cam Question

Recommended Posts

I have a 1997 xr 100 and i am putting on the bbr 120cc kit and the motor was a basket case and i have been putting it back together 1 peice at a time... But i am almost done and as soon as i get the bbr kit it will be complete..... Well for the most part.....but anyway the cam gear can go on the cam 2 ways when the motor is on top dead center with the timing dot facing up does the cam lobes face up or do they face down....the way they had it was with the lobes facing up when you have the dot at 12 o-clock and the motor at top dead center...... So i just wanted to know witch way the lobes went with the dot at 12 o-clock and the motor at top dead center

well i will give it a shot but before i rebuilt the motor with the new parts i had the motor together with all the stock componets the lobes were facing up with the motor at top dead center and the dot at 12 o-clock and it ran i rode it around my yard, it smoked it ass of cause it needed a top end but i was running.. it started 2nd kick ideled, reved up seemed to be in good order beside the top end.. thats why i wanted to check i and see what was right cause i thought it was lobes down myself and i was scratching my head when i seen the the cam...so i will try it lobes down when i put the bbr 120 kit on and see what happens...
