automatic decompresion confusion.

Recommended Posts

im having difficulty kicking through the stroke on my 2007 rmz450

i am 99 percent sure that the problem is the auto decompression.

its is incredibly hard to kick over when the piston is at top dead center.

now here is the thing i took apart the top of my engine today and checked the timing and valve clearance, all of it was perfect. i dont know anything about automatic decompresion mechanisms but when the bike is at tdc,

the auto decompresion arm just dangles there it dossent stay against the cam like i am "assuming" it should except for when it spins, and when i flick it it has a very weak bounce off of the spring and just sits and dangles again. now before i go ahead and spend 200 dollars on a new exhaust cam i was hoping someone could give me some insight into my problem. possibly ways to fix it or actually a way to test the mechanism correctly. i will post a picture if anyone thinks they can help me!

I would have liked to hear this answer. Does anyone have any comment. With the exception of course that hot cams uses your old decompressor.

i suppose the auto-decomp is seized.

Try to post a picture of it or check if anything is seized...

I know that there is no oem part but you should buy the exhaust-cam.
