08 Wr250f "click" when start button pressed

I've had this issue since day 1, kind of random but seems to be getting worse.

Battery voltage is 13+V at rest.

I checked battery voltage while running 14+v, checked current and after starting it's a few amps and ramps down to near zero after a minute. all that indicated charge circuit is ok. I checked the battery, solenoid, and starter connections and they were all tight.

If I give it half a kick start the e-start will work.

I'm thinking, bad battery or bad solenoid or bad starter.

Since it is intermittent, not sure how to test these items??

Do solenoids go bad?

any other ideas?

I think you answered your own question. Starts on the kicker not on the button, change the battery, the Japs dont use the best quality batteries. Even though the numbers seem to add up, the battery just doesnt have enough juice to fire up the motor. Had the same on mine. A new decent battery shouold only cost about £25 (about $70 I guess:p ). Try that first and then worry about the other bits after if the problem persists.
