HELP:chain/sprocket noise??? '05 drz 400S

Recommended Posts

I recently purcased a 2005 DRZ 400S that only has 1500 mi on it. When I ride with my son on the back it makes a loud clanking sound when I am not accelerating, but it seems ot go away when I accelerate OR when I ride alone? Any ideas? :lame:

I have noticed the same thing when carrying a passenger. It is the chain contacting the upper guide roller due to compression of the rear suspension..

Seems to be a common gripe with the DRZ. Get the chain adjusted. Lube Lube Lube. I came from a DR350 so I'm used to bogging it and chugging it along. It seems the consensus is that the DRZ likes higher RPM and doesn't like to be bogged. This helps too.
