1986 Cr 500

I have a 1986 CR500, When it gets warm, around 2-3 laps of riding, it wants to cut out, and bog really bad. I cannot figure out why its doing this. Any suggestions ? Gas is being mixed properly, all fluids are correct and fresh.

Ignition warming up and cutting out?

Thats what Ive been told to check. I cant get an ignition for it unless its a used one from ebay. I just took the radiators off and saw that they are pretty corroded inside.

Does it seem like it's over heating? Does it just bog/cut-out or does it ping too? The older 500's are known to have corrosion problems in the right side cover/waterpump area.

Is this something that it just started doing?

It is probably the Pulse coil. This is the small coil OUTSIDE the flywheel. Honda part number is 30300-ML3-000. My 86 Cr250 was having the same symptoms, and this was the cure. Retails at $46.00 from Ronnies mailorder. Good Luck, WD
