New DR-Z400S!

Recommended Posts

Well I finally got my street legal dirt bike in NJ! Bought a 2005 dr-z400s with 660 miles for $3300. This thing is really clean. It is all stock, even the tires. Thats right at the NADA value. I trieded a few times to get my old XR400 taged in NJ and other states with no luck and ended up selling it.

Time for upgrades. What do you guys think?

-remove saftey cluth and kick stand switch

-3x3 mod

-yoshi RS-2 complete

-Jet Kit

-Baja design rear fender/l.e.d. light

-maybe some new mirrors and signals

-new tires! The stock ones will hurt you off road. I'll proubly ride 75% dirt

Later on-

-racetech springs

-rear shock re-build

-IMS tank

-drz 400e gasket to increase compression

Sounds like you have a plan! The only $.02 I would add to your list is if your're riding 75% dirt, you'll definetly want to swap sprockets(prob. to something like 14/47). And many people here will advise you against getting the K&N filter for mainly dirt riding. The Twin Air or Uni filter (or similar) will provide petter filtration for fine dirt. Many even just clean and reuse the stock filter after modding the airbox.
