42t sprocket for XR 250L?

i was going to get a 40 or 42 tooth rear sprocky on the back (and keep a 13 toother on the countershaft).will this improve my bottom end at all, because right now the gearing is too tall.or would i be better off getting a 14 toother countershaft and keeping a 39 tooth on the rear?

cheers

Stock is 13-40 on all US models. I went for 13-40 for general DS rides, 13-44 for Mix riding, and 12-44 for trail only. It will make your bottom end much stronger.

does anyone have a 13-42t sprocket combo on their 250l?if so, what do you think, does it help as much as redrider suggests?

Your so over geared for trail riding, any thing will help.If you gear down.On xr250,s stock is13-48 great for the trail. Not for a street bike.

it really isnt too bad, i just want a little more bottom end.

On some of our xr250,s we use 45t on the rear,On front 12-13-14 depending on the ride.

thanks Baja, does anyone else run a 45t rear? how does it compare to the 39t?

tried it out today and i am stoked, i can hold a wheelie for ever!thanks for the help making my decision, you guys rock!
