cr85 piston

Recommended Posts

You could just install a new ring, but piston ring groove tolorence is very critical for compression sealing. If you install a new ring in a worn piston groove, your doing no good. If you go through the trouble to tear it down, go ahead and install a new piston too. They're not very exspensive.

how do i tell when i need a new pistion/ could i just use the same piston with the same piston with new rings

On the CR85---back side of the piston(intake side) takes allot of stress because its an intake track has no bridge to help support the piston. Look for excess wear on intake side of the piston--you will start to see impressions starting to form--re place piston, it will start to crack on you. If you have any other questions please ask.
