Pig on a diet?

OK. Someone check my math. If I topped off and rode 60.7 mi topped off again with 1.199 gallons that's like 50 mpg.

On an L with Dave's mods (55/158). Do'n like 75-85 the whole way...... How can that be? Tail wind? Or am I running way lean? I just don't get it. It goes like a wild boar on blow and on crap gas. But 50 mpg seems way too easy.

Nice, I'm riding a bunch of freeway (doing 70-75) and some street, but my best is 36MPG (after rejet and dave's mod). Maybe I'm accelerating a lot more.

I went through that too. After I started taking it easier from the stop lights and kept from spinning the tire on gravel/dirt roads, I started getting 50/gal....with stock tires, gearing.

Cool... So I can expect to have more of the same if I roll like I'm mortal.

Come to think of it I was really gett'n on it after Dave's mods.

It's ALL about throttle control and tall gearing for the best MPG.

On my uncorked camm'd 650R I was getting 45mpg@ 65-70mph with 15-45 and big ass non aerodynamic headlights,saddle bagz and 80%on-road tires so around 50 mpg is not too far off ,and I know KLR 650 guys that consistently get 45+MPG out of the box
