TRX 700XX E-Start to XR650R

Recommended Posts

Hi

Does anyone know if it is possible to fit a TRX E-Start to the XR650R as a direct bolt on?

The engine looks very similar.

In my opinion it would be a better option to fit a OEM Honda E-start than a Baja designs etc.

I think that discussion brought up the possibility of having to swap the crankshaft too.

Jeez....that quad is practically a one-person car.

The salesman in my dealership seems to think that Honda will replace the XR-650R with a new bike that has this engine. He doesn't have any concrete info, just rumors he heard at a dealer test day for the new models down in SoCal.

You would need to replace the left crankcase to do that. The center mounted output shaft is part of the case.

Joe Racer Products kit, with the exception of their crank adapter, uses nothing but Honda OEM parts.

There's a link off the page that lists the Honda parts and part numbers required- don't know that they're quad numbers, but you could cross reference them & see - Looks alot like what your're talking about

Putting a 700 motor in would be a better choice then ripping yours apart and changing the crank. You should be able to get most of the money back when selling your stock motor if its in good shape. Now that's big bore thumpin!

Time to put my XRR on the market if that bikes gonna be street legal........I will take one in a heartbeat.............

In fact, I think I had a little v-tach when I opened this thread and saw the quad.....I don't follow the quad world at all but it seems like the evolution has been from 2-wheels to 4......but now that they race and have the higher public profile and user friendly status, maybe that evolution has been reversed......

Anybody know how to give Honda a thumbs up to a street legal, dual-sport version of that motor and set-up in an XRR style frame?

I'm still hyper-ventilating..............

As I recall, there was an electric start 650R Supermoto offered in Europe for a time. I want to say it was Italy.

From what I understand, this is a dealer modification by Dall'ara Honda, similar to JRP or BD's e-Start. I think the SM version came with e-start, and on the normal version, it was an option. They wedge the battery for it under the right radiator shroud, between the gas tank and the radiator. They sell it as a kit too.
