Torn meniscus and/or sprained knee

Yesterday I had a litle incident at the track involving a stuck throttle and over jumping a jump in a rhthym section and bailing off to land on the face of the next jump. Thanks to my Leatt brace, Tech-10's and good helmet (Shoei) I only sustained a knee injury (i did crack my helmet and my leatt...they did they're job). Anyways I went to the ER last night and they did a series of Xrays. They said there was no bone breakage and they couldn't say anymore. They said by the way the pain is it is most likely a torn meniscus...or a sprained knee.

I'm going in wednesday for MRI's and whatnot but wanted to get a heads up here from anyone with experience with either. My symtoms are:

-Constant pain (although decreasing very much...no pain meds today)

-Swelling

-Pain when moving leg (can only move so much before the pain is too severe)

-Can hardly put any weight on it

I was given crutches and told not to put any weight on it. Being the idiot I am I have tried walking and can somewhat but can barely budge my knee at all.

So with all that, what are you thinking I should expect?

I'm gonna be honest I am pretty scared of being out for a long period of time. I have some support to possibly attempt a couple canadian nationals next year and really hope this won't interfere with that. Any input is greatly appreciated.

sounds like you need to see a specialist or get an MRI

That's the plan on wednesday I have an appointment with an arthopedic surgeon. I was just hoping you could clue me in as to what it may be. Thank you.

I had same problem, and all the swelling and pain went away after about 10 days, but they had to do the Arthopedic surgery on the knee, and then it was good but for all that to happen took about 4 months so I hope you have good medical insurance!!Good luck and I hope you get the sponsership!

Well it turned out after an MRI I have a torn Meniscus...

and a torn ACL...

Oh and a torn MCL too.

Alot worse than was initially thought. I knew it was way too much pain for a sprained knee.
