FITTING HYDRAULIC CLUTCH CABLE

SPRANG A LEAK IN THE 2ND LAP OF A 2 HR HARESCRAMBLE AT BERTHOUD, CO HAD TO FINISH THE RACE WITH NO CLUTCH AND THEN IN THE 4TH LAP THE GEAR SELECTOR FELL OFF ! SO STUCK IN 2ND ALL THE WAY TO THE FINISH, ANYWAY, ANY TIPS ON HOW TO FIT AND BLEED THE NEW CABLE ?

Just get two big syringes. Use one to empty the master cylinder (and keep emptying it). Fill the other with ATF and attach it to the nipple on the slave cylinder. With the nipple open simply pump the ATF back up ito the master cyl. Keep it going until there are no more bubbles or muck. Tighten nipple, adjust level of m/cyl as per manual.

Job done!!

LOTs of us use 5wt to 10wt fork oil but ATF appears to be okay, too. Alan Randt says that's what he uses in Lafferty's bikes. Not sure which grade, though.
