$200 To Rebuild Shocks?

It cost me 200 bucks to get my fronts shocks rebuilt at the Yamaha shop! Is this too much?

(This includes oil.) Any info would be appreciated.

a rebuild is usually an expensive thing, and considering u had a yamaha shop doing it, and not some crony out of his house garage, it is probably good work, most of it is probably not parts, but labor, i know my shop charges almost 80 bux and hour or so,and a total rebuild takes a little time

Did you get a break down of parts and labor? The parts can add up if they replaced the seals, wipers, o-rings, damper ring, etc.

Sounds like you got taken. I had my suspenders re-valved and re-sealed for $225. Now they actually work.... I have a 99 and the stock valving bites.

I just had my entire suspension rebuilt with a new rear spring for $491 which included tax at TBT racing. Expensive but well worth it. TBT locally specializes in rebuilding suspension so I felt more comfortable with them rather than the dealer. http://www.tbtracing.com/ The site gives you a break down on cost.

I wouldn't let a Yamaha dealer change my Engine Oil much less work on my forks....There are too many wannabe Suspension Hacks in the dealerships and way too few Professional Suspension Tuners...The best ones have their own Private business or work for Suspension Specialists.

just got my entire susp. rebuilt with "all new" parts and upsized springs from RaceTech work done by http://www.jmrpowersports.com These guys race their bikes with same parts.

Price $525.00 (91 CR 250)

Haven't got them on yet cause I just

got the $35.00 swingarm bolt from Honda in today.

But will this weekend.

That makes me feel better about what I paid. Sounds like a total rebuild costs somewhere around $500.00

I have not found a dealership that I would trust to change the wheels on my Razor, much less work on an actual motorcycle. You are virtually gauranteed of getting the least competent work and the highest possible price.

Factory Connection re-valved both ends for my weight and riding ability for $450.00. My suspension is SUPERB!

Rebuilding suspension to factory specs is cake, VERY EASY! All you have to do is take the dive into your forks.
