36mm carb better for torque ?

Recommended Posts

I own a 1998 cr 250r, used exclusivley in the trails. I'm thinking of buying a pwk from JD jetting and am trying to find out if a 36mm carb would give me better torque from 1/4 to 3/4 throttle than the 38mm.

thanks for your input

it will work from like 1/4 to 1/3 throttle but from their peak power will be down. A pipe may be better or cut head. it will work but not to 3/4 throttle IMO.

Actually it will improve performance up to around the 75% throttle area. The gains at 1/4-1/2 will be the most notable. THe only place it will loss some to the 38 is pretty much WOT. On a '98? Also consider going with a 36 PJ. better low end than with the PWK, IMHO. The smaller carbs also improve the throttle response at low-mid rpm.
