What rear shock fits a 00 yz-125?

Recommended Posts

I need to rind a new rear shock for my bike and i'm wondering what years 125's will fit my bike as well as other models. I was told the 250f shock works but I dont want to buy something to find it out it wont work. If you guys can give me any input that would be great!

I can only offer a little help, Dave...

YZ125/250 (no idea if the f bikes were any different from the 2-strokes - different valving, perhaps?)

The 1996-7 bikes ran the same shock. Completly different swingarm and linkage from the '93-'95 bikes.

In 1998 they changed the swingarm and linkage geometry, so that may have required a different shock. Not sure if that means a different length for the shock, or just valving changes.

Somewhere in 2002 or 4 they changed the swingarm and linkage geometry again, so that may have required a different shock. Again, I'm not sure if that means the shock changed length, or just received new valving.

There were lots of subtle changes to the shock body, reservoir, and clicker adjusters throughout the years.

The best way to get solid information about this is to contact a suspension specialist.

Here is the place I work with...

Thanks! Yea I'll let you know what i find out. Picked this bike up for $400 so I'm not complaining to much. just trying to keep it as cheap as possible.

You want cheap - then shop the TT classifieds section. There was an entire shock there for the 125 that sold for $25 recently....
