Your Best "Ride reports" of 08

Hey guys.

Ive had lots of free time with all the bad weather and have been reading some great ride reports to help pass the time. Problem is, I spend more time looking for them then I do reading them.

I like the ride reports from here in the NW becauce they give me ideas of new rides to hit up next year.

I remember seeing some great ones from the foggy dew area but couldent find them, so I thought up the idea for this thread.

So lets see em. If you did a cool ride this year, or read one you liked, post it up here.

Here is my favorite from the year.

Was a great year indeed. Did the most riding I have ever done 1-3x a week. DSing the blackdog, railing Bend, epic HR rides, gobs of rides at GP, tons of street miles on the SM610 (FUN!), the 24hr... 08 was a great year.

My favorite ride of the year was with my little brother. We staged near the Alder ridge trailhead. Rode up Chickamin tie etc and down Shepito. It was pissing rain the whole time. We built a huge fire at the campground on the Eniat to dry out. Then up Duncan where I snapped these shots http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=54822&l=d19c6&id=1644553316http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=100462&l=98096&id=1644553316

We then went down the Eniat to South Tommy, past Klone peak I believe it is and then down Alder ridge to the car. Just shy of 100 miles of perfect soil and company.

Here is my favorite from the year.

[/qUOTE]That is AWSOME!

I have been thinking about that but I no doubt would get myself in trouble. :moon: I would not recognize poisen oak, haha, I would no doubt hurt the bike in a bad way. Get eat'n by a bear and so on. :busted:

Years ago I read in one magazine (American motorcyclist or something) about a guy tracing the Oregon Trail and getting permission from ranchers and actually following the wagon ruts through vast tracks of land. That sounds cool too. He rode it on a Suzuki DRS (350 or bigger) or a DRZ400, I can't remember.

What a great ride!

Thanks for posting it.

Its also the first time I have seen some of your wedding photos. Looks like a beautiful day with a very happy bride and groom!

Are you and Trav coming down for the Hangover?

I'll be there shooting pics so if you see me come over and say hi.

We are skipping the Hangover this year. It's too far to go and conditions are going to be questionable.

I don't think our photographer's pics are on the website, but he did an amazing job. We just got our book and the originals a few weeks ago and he was definitely worth the money. It was 104 degrees that day and I felt so bad for him! He was dressed up in a tie and long sleeved pants and shirt!

Record year for riding for me too.. probably not near as often as some of you, but I entered three races this year (never raced before) and the other highlight ride(s) were

a 10 day solo trip in June on the Husky down through Oregon, and back up to Hells Canyon and home.. over 2000 miles (about half off road).. I camped the whole way.. my favorite parts where riding the desert south of Christmas Valley... the beauty of the terrain, the heat, the difficulty of riding a bike fully laden with camping gear, three gallons of water, seven gallons of fuel etc. down vanishing rut filled roads and trying to maneuver through volcanic rock fields.. and then riding down to Dug Bar on the Snake River is a ride I won't soon forget - then on the last day, I rode home from Hells Canyon to Renton, nearly 500 miles through 100deg temps.. my arse was sore for three days after that

and then had two epic trips to Gifford. One three day trip in August, and a four day trip in September for a total just over 500 miles (about half of that was single track.. the rest on dual sports)

I've actually kept a list of my rides this year.. just because I knew it was going to be a year to remember..
