Grips Won't Stay Tight

Recommended Posts

I safety wire all my grips after grip glue, if you do it right you don't ever feel it.

I have used all brands of grips before, and my method is to fill the grip with gasoline and let it sit for about 45 seconds, dump it out, and slide it on the bars. I let them sit overnight to dry, then wire them up. I've never had them slip this way. The time may vary between grip compounds. The 45 seconds is for med/hard. I only go about 30 sec. for soft.

Success depends on finding the best glue for the type of material in the grip itself.
You also have to be careful. Some adhesives contain solvents that will dissolve some grip materials. I've seen it happen. A buddy of mine bought this 3M spray adhesive to use to put his grips on. He sprayed it inside the grips, and they melted right before our eyes...
