Where to get 250sx to 300 kit?

Recommended Posts

A mate has bought a 2006 250SX and wants to convert it to a 300.

I told him he should be able to just change the piston and head.

Is this correct and is so where can he find the kit online?

Or should it be availbale straight from the dealer?

cheers

Its a little more than a piston and head. You will need to change the clyinder along with all the valving in it. I think Munnracing(.com) had a kit or they know what you will need to do it. Give them a call.

No, all you need is a 300 cylinder, gaskets, and a piston/rings, cylinder head, and head stays. It is a quick install. both motors, the 250 and the 300 share the same stroke, 72mm off the top of my head (I think that is right) and the only difference is the bore. With the 250 SX ignition you will have a 300 SX that is pretty good. If you take a little off the bottom of the 300 cylinder you get more compression and get a little more grunt as well.

Keep your eye on ebay and on ktmtalk classifieds, lots of guys part out bikes, you should be able to find a 300 take off.

you also need the powervalve flapper, but there is no kit available, you need to just buy all the parts, just get the micro phish for both, or the owners manuel also has the info youneed just compare part numbers.

Many guys on ktm talk have done it.
