moose atv grip heaters

I just picked up a set of Moose grip heaters and when i read the instructions it said for ATVs only (will melt throttle tube on motorcycle) my question is will they really melt the throttle tube? after doing a few searches it seems that some people have used snowmobile/atv grip heaters with success, if the heat will be a problem is there anyway to simply put a resistor on the high power source to the throttle grip to reduce the heat (it seems that on most motorcycle specific heaters the throttle side produces less heat, mainly for balancing out the heat on the clutch side is this how its done?)
