swapping out springs

Recommended Posts

Is it ok to swap out springs? Or should one always use new springs? I ask because I just picked up a 250f that set up for a 210lb rider. I'm 150.

But a guy has a set (one softer than stock) that sould work well for me laying around. Can I get them swapped out? Do I have to worry about them breaking or anything of the sort?

it will be fine, springs breaking is rare.

springs can break and already did.

but this doesn't happen frequently.

Usually you shouldn't worry about that (at least i wouldn't)

But springs can wear out. You can measure the spring length and compare it to the length it should have.

ok thanks. I'll make sure they aren't old worn out springs. I trust the guy, he is a race tech suspension guy afterall.

It rides like a SX bike now... and that just won't do
