How much to rebuild bottom end

I came accross a 1998 YZ 125 on craigslist that needs a new bottom end. The guy has it up for 950 which is WAY to high but I want to get an idea as to how much the bottom end will cost me to get a good idea what I should offer him for the bike. So my questions. How much would a bottom end cost me assuming that I will do it myself? How much would you offer for the bike?

It cost me around $600, but almost all the parts in my engine were junk. It could cost you as low as $350 assuming the crank is all that needs replaced. Also you need to factor in the price of tools, such as a case splitter and flywheel puller.

Good point. I was thinking I would just get a Wiseco complete bottom end kit just to be safe. What would you offer for the bike?

$300 maybe $500 depending how the rest of the bike is.
