Torque of cylinder and cylinder head

Recommended Posts

I am going to change the top end in my 2002 KX 250 and I don't have a manual. Can someone with a manual please tell me how much to torque the cylinder and head bolts. I have not changed a top end in a bike in about ten years so any other tips would be appreciated.

The cylinder is 25ft/lb and the head is 18ft/lb. Clean your powervalve too.

How do you get a torque wrench on the cylinder to case bolts? I couldn't get mine on my 03' 250 so I hand tightend them.

I just tighten them by hand. But if your anal you can use either a crows foot or torque extension.

Read this thread. There's a formula there to correct the torque setting since the length of the socket is altered.
