1989 KX80 Big Wheel- fork oil amount?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have a 1989 Kawasaki KX80 Big Wheel with an XR100 motor in it. These early models did not have an inverted fork- it's a conventional fork.

I just drained all the fork oil, replaced the leaky fork seals, and re-assembled the forks and now I'm wondering how much fork oil to add? Does anyone know the specific amount needed, or is there a general guideline I could use?

Thanks in advance for any input.

I think this is the same basic fork use in the KX100s of the same era too. If anyone has a manual, I'd sure appreciate if you could check to see the reccomended fluid level.

Thanks

Kawasaki does not list any specs for that far back. I did find on their site info on the 97 model which still uses conventional forks (guessing same ones as the 89)

SAE 10W20

—Capacity 385-393 cc (dry)

—Level 105-145 mm (spring removed, fork compressed)
