My Keihin PE28 jetting @ 1161 sea level

Recommended Posts

Thanks to Froggie for the suggested baseline. You were dead on.

  • OGM Sx 160 Pro
  • YX 160cc engine
  • Keihin PE28 mm carb

I'm located in West Central Georgia (1161 above sea level) and so far the best jetting combination I have found for the Keihin PE28 is,

  • #30 Pilot
  • #95 Main
  • Stock PE 28 needle
  • Clip set forth position from top, or second from bottom
  • Air screw 2 1/8 turns out. (The PE seems very sensitive to air screw adjustments)

I bought a JJH needle to experiment with and didn't like it. I couldn't get it to run as smooth as with the stock needle.

Do you have the pe28 facing rearward? Are you using the stock manifold?

I've been thinking of picking up a carb, not sure if I wanna go vm26 or the pe.

good informative post. These carbs are supposedly really good with the big bore motors. I am waiting on my jets to arrive and I will install mine and throw up my numbers once i get it running correctly.

Rear facing carb using the stock intake manifold - no adapter was needed on the OGM model.
