Using CR forks on XR600

Recommended Posts

If I swap CR forks (either conventional or USD) onto my 85 XR600, will that kill using my stock speedo drive? Looks like the lower fork leg on my stock fork has an extra tab that keeps the drive from turning. Am I seeing this right? Thanks

Yes there is a little tab on the near the axle mount on the fork leg that the odometer drive must sit against to keep it from turning around the axle. I swapped to USD's but didn't have the cable, or odometor/speedo box so i didn't need to try to keep it. Although I did keep my XR600 wheel but I had to make some custom wheel spacers for it to fit on my 94 CR125 forks. They aren't the latest and greatest, but they are USD and they are cartridge forks (2 generations newer than my 88 XR forks). Not the best shot, but still working on it too.
