Is this the way this plastic thing (marked with red arrow) should be positioned?

Thanks

Rotate it 90 degrees clockwise.

I actually removed mine (but kept the bolt in place) when I moved my CDI unit forward (to the left in your pic) so that the 3X3 hole was fully uncovered.

I secured it to the frame rails with a zip tie on each side.

If you do this, take care not to mash your seat against the CDI connectors when removing/installing the seat.

Rotate it 90 degrees clockwise.

So it should cover the CDI?

:p

It's upside down and needs rotated 90 degrees, the scoop goes down and toward the tank. The seat plastic/holder latch? rests on it.

i think it is designed to cover the CDI connectors. mine fits poorly and seems out of place, but i still use it as it's not visable with the seat on.

It covers the connector plugs, and I believe it's there so you don't rake your seat against it while removing and installing it.

I think it also keeps the CDI unit in position while the seat is removed - once the seat's in place, the seat, itself, holds it down.

Can someone else confirm if it's upside down?

I edited that out of my post, I think it just needs rotated, sorry.

Oops, was right the first time! upside down and rotated.

Yes, you're right about it being upside down, too.

That's how it rolled off the showroom on my bike now that I think more about it, anyway.

Just like one of my teachers used to say:

Rotate it upside down. :p

I think it needs turned 90 Deg.
...and needs rotated 90 degrees

Not trying to be the grammar police...I'm just genuinely curious. What's with the omission of "to be" in between "needs" and whatever verb you're using? (e.g "needs turned" vs. needs to be turned)

Is this just internet slang/shorthand? Or do you say it this way as well?

Is it some kind of regional/Midwestern semantic?

23 out of my first 26 years were spent in the midwest, maybe you're on to something. I never did appreciate or truly understand all of the rules in grammer, this is the way I speak as well as the way I write, and so help me, if you come near me with a ruler in your hand...:p

JK, :ride: trying to be funny and answer your to be or not to be question.

Take that thing out and throw it in the box with your other spares. I deleted it and moved the cdi when I did the 3x3
