PW 50 start/run switch

Recommended Posts

What exactly does the start/run switch do on my son's PW 50? I see a cable attached but am not sure how it functions. Thanks.

I believe it is just a choke. I bought one for my brother's kids PW.

you can sget one from the link below:

It limits the RPM's when you start it so it can't go wide open.

If the connector behind the # plate gets wet the bike will run poorly.:p

If you unplug the connector it will start and run fine but the RPM limiter

will be disabled. (try this at your own risk)

The "start" side of the switch functions as mentioned, it limits the RPMs, so if the little one starts it in gear, the bike doesn't take off on him. Quite a good idea IMHO, provided the little guy switches it to start when he kicks it.

"Run", to my knowledge actually does nothing.

"Stop", to my knowledge electrically shorts to ground the CDI to turn off the bike.

The cable is the throttle cable. As you turn the throttle, it pulls the slide on the carb open, allowing more air/fuel into the engine and it runs faster.
