New Top End - High RPM Idel

Recommended Posts

I just put a new top end in my 02 CR250. Everything went smoothly, but now when I start the bike, the engine rev's pretty high (as if the throttle is a little more then cracked). I also had a few dents removed on the expansion chamber and re-packed the silencer, but did not make any major changes that would warrent changing the jetting (at least I don't think). I adjusted the idle control with no luck as well.

Any pieces of advice?

found the problem. When I was disassmbling, a head stud broke off. I took the cyl in to a local shop and had them extract the broken bolt. It appears that they just drilled it out and re-tapped the hole to the same size. When I torqued the cyl head, everything seemed fine, but apparently when torquing or running, the threads failed. Going back to the local shop for an explanation.

I could have half-assed it myself.

Any thougts short of having a custom stud fabricated?
