my bike has no fire

Recommended Posts

Its an 04 x, that has 30 to 40 hours on it. I havent ridden it since august, but ran it in november. In august it was really hard to start cold. Same in november. went to start it in january and cant even get it to cough. I hate leaving it sit for so long, but money has been tight and have been dreading the valve check. I finally broke down today and checked them and to my surprise they are still within tolerance. Both intake at .004 and exhaust at .009. I have tried the throttle twist trick but still am getting nothing. I also have good spark.

Just hoping to get some ideas so I can go through the procss of elimination.

Try new gas in it and drain the float bowl (valve is screw on side of carb). If you still have the stock pilot jet it they are very cold blooded when it's chilly out.
