Carb bowl drain screw issue

Recommended Posts

Anyone heard of an aftermarket drain screw for the carburetor bowl?????

Went to the dealer & was told I had to purchase the float chamber assembly (bowl) to get this screw & was not available seperately. $61.00 for a drain screw is a bit outrageous!

yeah, honda, yamaha, KTM, Kawi..

On the 450's that is......an FCR is pretty much an FCR.

If you click on that link you should see that it is.

Called the yamaha dealer & they had the yz450f drain screw screw in stock. When I got there & looked at it, I noticed it was somewhat different from the original. The honda screw has a tapered end & uses a tiny o-ring near the head. The yamaha screw didn't have this. I find it difficult to understand why honda would do this?

Lost the original, but I have good memory what it looked like. The honda parts fiche shows the tiny o-ring on the drain screw for the '07 450X. My sons '06 450R has the identical drain screw. The o-ring is available seperately, but apperently honda wants to sell the complete bowl assembly to make the screw available.
