Jetting?

Recommended Posts

My '88 xr600 runs great off road where I'm pretty much winding it up all the time. It has great throttle responce and power. But when I ride it on the street for a while after long periods of half throttle it wants to cut out if I hit the throttle too hard. If I'm smooth it'll wind up alright. If I turn it off for five or ten minutes and re-start it, it's even worse. It's good if I let it idle for five or ten minutes. I don't know if it's my jets, air/fuel or what. I haven't even tinkered with it yet. I thought I'd put my questions out there first.

Hmm what about the float level in the carbs.

+1

and check your fuel valve on the float. I would bet that is the problem

I pulled the carb. The float is set low. The fuel valve is moving freely. I'm going to put it together and see how she goes. I'll keep you posted.

She lives! I haven't taken'r out on the road yet because I'm swapping out my dirt tires/rims to my streets, but she fired uncommonly easy. Thanks for the input.
