Flowers Bill Would Prohibit Youth Riding.

Illinois House bill 3914, introduced by Rep. Mary Flowers (D-Chicago), would make it illegal for anyone under the age of 16 to operate an all-terrain vehicle or off-highway motorcycle. The proposed legislation would also make it illegal to transport a passenger on an ATV or OHM regardless of whether the vehicle is configured for a passenger. The bill would also require ATV and OHM riders to have valid driver's licenses and wear helmets.

This legislation was referred to the rules committee on February 26th.

This was defeated on March 11 in committee...check out the "Illinois State Capital Wednesday " thread and make a call to your state senator and ask him to vote NO on SB1351 to help those who helped kill this bill...all the info in that thread.

It didn't pass but we still have to keep an eye on this stuff to make sure she doesn't try revising it a little and putting it forward again with new verbage. She did have 2 other supporters even with it written the way it was. If she removes the portion that was about the schooling programs k-8 teaching kids about the dangers she's likely to get more support so everyone keep an eye out for this to resurface.
